Interview

  • If you have to pick one thing that everyone else should absolutely know about you, what would it be?
One thing I believe anyone should really know about me, is that I can’t help but to be a caregiver. Since I was growing up, I was always taught to care for others, to provide a safety net for my siblings to feel comfortable and be around, to care for what my parents wanted and to care for them; specially, my mom who always had a long lists of to-do’s for me at all times.

I sometimes can’t help but to always step into that caregiver role no matter who it is. Could be a boyfriend, or a friend. I always take things to heart, get to emotionally involved for the well being of others and often times get sucked into problems that have nothing to do with me, simply because I try to help or fix things when they’re not mine to fix.

I care a lot. A double edge sword.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to workout, longboard, bike, hike, social outings with friends, late night walks, movies, going to the beach, etc. I’m a very spontaneous guy, and love to do random little things at the most random moments. You will never find me to be dull.

One of my favorite things to do, is cooking. I love being in the kitchen, making food for others and seeing them enjoy what I make 🤤😉

Still learning how to bake though… but we’ll get there. Promise.
  • Tell us what you consider to be your greatest life experience.
If I’m being honest, turning 21. Cliche. But here me out…

As I mentioned, I never got to be free. I never got to choose to go to a party when I was in high school or simply sleep over a friends house, or do normal teenage things because my parents were super over protective. I am thankful and super grateful that they were.

However, when I turned 21 I went to my first gay club alone. Yes, alone. No friends. No parents (obviously). Nobody. That night, I got to buy my first drink on my own, talk to strangers and feel like I was becoming something. Such a high. I got to do really fun things too, and well, as you can imagine, it was also my first time doing them haha.
  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
Simple. By never assuming that what you did yesterday, an hour ago, a minute ago, is completely perfect. There’s always room for improvement, and there’s always something you can do better.

The only one who can make you a better version of who you are today, is yourself.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
To be honest, I can’t think of anything else but my family. They are my rock. There isn’t much to say but simply, without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Regardless of my challenges and what roadblocks life throws at me, family will always be there.
  • What do you do for fun?
For fun? Interesting question and with many meanings, but I’ll keep it PG13. The x-rated version, well you are here, no? Haha.

I enjoy longboarding, and one of the most amazing things I miss the most is going up in my undergrad school parking garage, smoking , and longboarding downhill all the way. The adrenaline rush. The feeling, is unimaginable.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
I don’t take anything for granted. I experience life to the fullest and take advantage of every moment like it’s my last. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. So many worry about life in such a way that it doesn’t let me enjoy or see the little things.

BUT guess what? The little things are all that matter.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
This is a very loaded question.

I would say it depends on who is with me. If it’s someone I love I would probably share some deep wounds about my family and growing up. I would say I grew up without having the chance to be a kid or enjoy being a kid when I was growing up. It was always an expectation of me to be mature, to know how to do things early on and be a “man.” I would say I truly yearn for the opportunity to simply be irresponsible and get in trouble and grounded like other kids have, because it’s something I never got the chance to experience.

Don’t get me wrong, the way I was raised has prepared me for life in many ways. I don’t regret any of it- but if you asked me what is one thing I wish for? It’s to be a kid again so I can actually be one.
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
    Courage. Authenticity. Kindness. Humility.

I carry myself with gratitude for life and the little things it has to offer. How do I do that? by being courageous enough to be vulnerable, feel the hard times and tough moments, and allow myself to feel pain even when you're trying to stay in one piece. I live authentically on my own terms. No matter where life takes me, or what challenges come across me, it will never make me question or be someone I am not comfortable being. It all comes down to be kind, and sharing love with the rest of the world and those you cherish most. Being an individual who is able to consolidate their feelings and emotions, and put them aside to be empathetic to someone else, is the most beautiful trait any person could hold.

Every aspect of life boils down to humility. Being able to stay humble no matter what achievements you have, or money, or success, you must always stay grounded and know where you came from and the journey it took you to get there - 100% of the times, someone else also has gone through that journey in similar ways and all they need, is a hand of support and understanding.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
It's going to sound crazy because I am comparing myself to a donut, but, think about a Boston Kreme. You first take a bite, and you say "hmm it's so good" and that chocolate glaze is delicious! Then you take a second bite, and it's even sweeter, your fingers have chocolate smothered over them, your mouth begins to salivate and you rush to get to the middle. The sweet spot. WOW. You take that bite, filled with cream and there's nothing more delicious. Right? And then, you finish eating it, and your mind rushes to when would be the next time you can have another one. How about now?

    Experience. Sweetness. Love.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
It depends. I can be a homebody if I have company, who will keep me entertained. Other days I can be crazy and go out with friends. Or some times I don't want to be socially active in any way. Guess what? it's all okay. We focus too much on labels, and sometimes we should just let ourselves breath and do what we feel like doing without having to think twice. It's free-ing.
  • What kind of diet and fitness regiment do you follow?
To be honest, I eat whatever I desire. I do workout and go to the gym on a regular basis, but I am not going to limit myself to the most amazing thing in the world - food.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
Passion. Life is nothing without passion. I always say that you must feel it from within, very deep inside of you, to be motivated enough and determined to achieve anything. I have always pour my heart and soul to everything I do.

Some people follow the foot steps of those coming before them, simply because they feel the need to fit and mold themselves into the expectations of others. I mold myself into the expectations I have for me, myself, and I. I worked hard in life to achieve and be where I am today, to have graduated and be the first in my family to go to college, to graduate school, and work in the industry I work in - you ask why am I here? Because I am a problem solver, and when things are challenging, I find solutions, not dwell on them.
  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
I wouldn't say it's personal, but something unique about me is that I am a dancer. I have been dancing to traditional Dominican rhythm since I was 3 years old. It has always been in my blood.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I am fire! Many people perceive me as someone "innocent" or "sweet" or "passive" and although I am, don't underestimate me. I am burning inside with passion, love, and when unleashed, I simply can't stop. It takes a certain kind of person to unlock me, but once they do, baby, there's no turning back. Strap in. You are in for a ride.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
One thing about me that I enjoy the most, is my ability to live life to the fullest even when times are tough. I live everyday without restrain, exploring every inch of what life has to offer. I am a very open minded individual, and like to challenge myself to try new things; whether it is a different cuisine, or a different genre of shows that what I am normally used to, or hot steamy risky public fun after a workout - I don't limit myself. Society has given us these chain locks, and it's up to you to break free from them. Experience life the way it was meant to be lived - enjoying yourself, your body, your fantasies, your desires without feeling guilty or bothered by what others may think of you. I love and enjoy being my authentic self.
