I live with a rare genetic disorder and disability called Marfans syndrome. Many people don’t know this about me, but because of this genetic disorder, I’ve undergone 6 major surgeries in my lifetime starting since the age of 3.

My childhood and teen years were filled with hospital visits for surgeries and treatment, and one of my major surgeries called for chest reconstruction because as I grew older, due to Marfans, my chest would cave inward towards my body creating a “crater”. As a result, I had multiple surgeries on my chest to prevent my chest sinking inward and killing me.

I’m proud to say today I’m healthy and thriving. I still have a slight chest deformity that you can’t tell from my pictures, along with scars on the sides of my chest. I’m proud of my scars and chest deformity. I’m incredibly unique because my body is different, and I celebrate that because I’m a survivor and still standing here today with joy, love, and a drive to make the world a better place and to use my gifts to be the best version of myself!
